ABU Referencing in  " Mr Crabtree's Guide to Good Tackle"

"Mr Crabtree", a pseudonym of Mr Hal Mount was responsible for this fine compilation of information.

I have unfortunately had to remove all images of the above book for the following response to my e-mail to The Daily Mirror

Sad , considering the Not for Profit Nature of this website, but this is their wish, still we may see a re-publishing or a Volume 2 appear soon.

Dear Wayne,

Thank you for your email. I'm afraid I have to inform you that for copyright reasons you cannot reproduce any of the content of this book without our permission. All permissions are subject to a licence fee based on the use of the content. For you to use this content from the Guide to Good Tackle as shown on your website the fee would be £200 GBP (excluding VAT) for up to 12 months usage. If you are happy to pay this please could you supply the name, company name and address of the person whom we should send the invoice to (the invoice counts as your licence with us).  If you are not happy to pay this fee I am afraid I must request that you remove all extracts from the book from your website.  We do not grant any 'free' licences (even for 'not for profit' enterprises) as this would contravene our agreements with our photographers/artists that we represent - I am sorry if this comes as a shock!

Similarly, if you wish to add any additional information as mentioned in your email you will need to clear this beforehand with this department, and an additional licence fee would be payable. For copyright reasons you are not permitted to reproduce the content of publications at no charge.

You will hopefully be pleased to hear, however, that we have been keen for some time to republish the Crabtree books (as you may know there was more than one Mr Crabtree volume produced), and are hoping to do so in the near future. It is therefore reasonably likely that you may soon see some format of the original Mr Crabtree Goes Fishing book/s available for purchase in a new edition.

I hope this information is helpful,

Kind regards,

Clare

Dear Sir /Madam
I run the not for profit ABU Fishing Equipment Collectors site. www.realsreels.com
It is widely regarded as being the pest practice on the net for sourcing Abu information.
I have managed to buy a now out of a slightly damaged out print copy of  your book above.
I have made a short mention and link here  http://www.realsreels.com/MrcrabtreeFineTackle.aspx
I would love to see this book re-releases for Collectors worldwide. It is my opinion if released at a reasonable price of say up to 10 quid, the book would be snapped up.
If this were not to happen, could I have permission to copy more of the interesting article onto my website for all ABU collectors around the world to enjoy.
I emphasise I would make no profit from this and am endeavouring to do this for all the right reasons ie not monetary  , merely a passionate interest in ABU equipment (now owned by Pure Fishing Conglomerate)
I hope this suggestion is considered and I hear back from you.
Tight Lines
