Lures/Baits/Artificials

Collectors Lures.

A work in progress which all will appreciate I'm sure!

Many thanks to Bo, Mike,  and others in the future

1980's

Towards the end of lure production by Abu in Sweden the new models introduced were predominantly ice/pier fishing pirks. The range changed rapidly from 1979 to 1982 and little was recorded in Tight Lines (or Napp och Nytt).

Known lures include - Kitos, Hajen (The Shark), Joker, Fin, Onni, Vicker, Piggy, Rauto flex, Luca flex, Lucas and Aulanko.

AULANKO - Ice-fishing lure

The AULANKO and JOKER ice-fishing lures are from my collection - they were never mentioned in NoN, so it's not that easy to say when they were made and for how long. Judging from the yellow card boards they came with, I'd say first to mid 1980's - just prior to the Garcia "take-over"

The Aulanko  was/is a very special find. It was found in only 3 gr. and in just 3 colors.

A friend from Denmark found this lure in 1998 at a friends place, who had just bought them in a tackle shop in Denmark. We soon found out that noone else had ever heard this lure.  Strange in the sense that it must have been made around 1982 judging from the yellow cardboard it came with - or perhaps a little later.... *thinking.....* ..  we had some rather tough winter's in the mid 1980'es in Scandinavia. Maybe a sudden opportunity arisen made ABU not want to miss out on things lures by not having any ice-fishing lures in their lure programme anymore. According to NoN all ice-fishing lures was removed from NoN after 1982.

Anyways - color markings on Aulanko are (in Swedish):  K/GR, G/RØ  andG/GR - equivalent to colors Copper/Green, Gold/Red and Gold/Green (Gold = brass).

I have just 2 of the 3 colors (see pic).

JOKER - Ice-fishing lure

Made in 2 weights - 4g & 5g and in 3 colors - Red, Green and Yellow. No marking but lure name on their yellow card board.

I only have 5g's and I don't have any yellow.

My friend found the 4g's in the lure assortment bag called "Betessortiment för vinterfiske" (Assortment of lures for (winter) ice-fishing). When he found them, I don't know - but must have been after I found my Joker's. I found mine at a tackle shop in Copenhagen sometime in the beginning of the 90's. Too bad I didn't write down the date - I remember it as was it yesterday. Finding never heard of ABU lure sure isn't a everyday experience. I bought all they had.. not that many - some were already sold, but I got 8 or 10 I think. I later found some more in a tackle shop in Karlshamn, Sweden, but only a few...

One other never to be mentioned in NoN icefishing lure is known...I've seen it...  found this one too - name is KRABBI

I don't know the sizes or colors they came in and I don't have any pics of it and I don't own any myself...  Perhaps others will add more here.

Mike Elsworth from Wales UK, offers the following ice-fishing lures.
