Glad to find a site devoted to ABU nuts. As a boy in the early 1970's I bought my first ABU reel; a red 5000 just like every other kid had. I still have that reel today along with the case, papers and everything else that came with it, including a "high speed" conversion gear set that ABU offered in those days. I've experimented with various makes and models of reels but always come back to ABU. I wish we could establish a connection with someone in Sweden to help provide reels that we sometimes can't get in certain markets. I'd love to have one of the 2500C's that are currently being produced but they are only in the Swedish and Japanese catalogs.

Wow! I did not know there was anybody as crazy about ambassadeurs as me. I am a fanatic about them. Cannot get enough of them. Wish I had at least 2 of every model made.

Hi Wayne, I contacted you a few months ago about a Abumatic 60 reel I had bought on the internet and was having trouble getting apart to clean, with your help problem was solved. Happy to say I have had the opportunity to give it a good work out recently, landing many trout around the 3lb. mark. The reel behaved perfectly - what a tribute to Swedish engineering. Will try to send you a pic. at a later date. Regarding your trip to New Zealand, let us know your itinery and we may be able to help. Regards Alan

Nice site you got. I have one Cardinal 33CDL orginal serie with footnumber in original woodbox. Sideproduction too the golden collection cabinet i think. I am considering to sell it and wonder about the value of this reel. Sinsererly: Lars-Erik Andersen
