Lures
by Verlon Caudill

Just a sample..many more below
My good friendship with Verlon came about through an Aussie Lure Forum
www.lurelovers.com
Ove the last 6 months I have learn a lot about Verlon the man, the
fisherman, the grandparent, the friend and the lure crafter.
He excels in all capacities. I hope to share a little here and allow you too
to enjoy his lures made in very limited quantities, should you wish!

Each of Verlon Caudill's
many handmade baits would look good on display, but Caudill would much
rather take them to the lake.
Be they Shads , Topwater,
nudies, froggies or rattlesnake skin lures, one will not be disappointed.
Caudill, 71, makes
fishing lures that simulate shad, crawfish and frogs. Each one is carved and
painted by hand, then field-tested in nearby Cove Lake State Park to assure
its action is straight and true.
The only bait Caudill has
never caught fish on is the one patterned after Dolly Parton, which he has
named "The Dolly." Like its namesake, the wooden plug is well-endowed. The
anatomical accuracy extends to the full lips and blond hair, and as an extra
bonus, The Dolly wears a polka-dot bikini.
Caudill's customers love
it, but the bass aren't as impressed.
"Most people who get it
never fish with it," he said. "It's more of a conversation piece."
Verlon shares most his small
production with fans worldwide for the tiny sum of $10 or $15 , Rattlers are
$30, plus postage
(free if $50 worth is ordered)
These are truly unique
and the likes of which are just not available for this price anywhere.
I consider my self very
fortunate, to have some of his lures and more in time to complete a nice
rounded up selection of his skilful work!
They are very definitely
lures to climb/swim for if they become hung up in timber above or below
water.

My Lures made by Verlon

The Creation Process
Verlon reigns supreme (don't tell his wife) in a nice garage where can house is lure and
wood working tools.

He re-modelled a bathroom and took the old base cabinet and made a lure
making station. Verlon put a peg at one end where he hangs all the parts that
are
needed, the rotessier is fastened to the back of the top and he has a tool caddy with the tools
he uses, right at his finger tips. It is also put on
wheels, so in warm weather, it can be rolled it out to the carport.

Popper making 101 below!
Cheers,
Verlon
