Uffe
Edefur , a long time but until now , an unmet helpful
friend from Sweden who recently spent 2 weeks holidaying and
fishing with me, has been subjected
to my poor interview here ....
He was born
in Stockhom and as
a youth he spent a lot of time on his grand parents farm and later moved to the
south of Sweden.
Fishing and ABU came to him early in life, not realizing that much later he
would live close to the Morrum and the home of ABU at Svangsta.
We have established a 'mateship' and rest of life friendship over the last
6 or so years and most especially over the 2 weeks we fished,
ate, drank and told stories socializing together!

Uffe's Second Fishing trip to Oz
(10th September 2011 to 24th September 20011)
Departure for Australia, with 13 ABU/Record rods!

Uffe arrived on time for 2 weeks fishing with Wayne and best mates, Arthur
Cleary and Lindsay Jones.
We had 12 days out fishing with just one or two rest days.
A full schedule of locations, ranging from offshore around the Keppel Islands to
coastal estuaries, beaches and headlands were tried.
Uffe managed to take his species count this trip, up from 14 to 24 different
species.
These included...

Whales, mothers and calves, swimming slowly and breaching as well as a dead one
were sighted.
Uffe made us feel like we had such a great holiday both on an off the water.
On his list for next trip will be GT, Black King/Cobia, Golden Trevally,
Mulloway, Snapper, Red Jew, Coral Trout, Moke, Blue Salmon, Steelback
and a Long Finned Tuna
Time passed so quickly, with good food, drinks, stories and laughs but
relatively early nights .
We look forward to his
return, hopefully in September 2013!

Questions, questions , questions...
When were
you aware of fish to be caught ? Sea, lake or
river?
As young as
6 or 7 years, and on freshwater river and
lakes.
Tell me
about your earliest fishing experiences?
Older
brothers provided the interest by catching and bringing home fish and I
was envious of their catches.
How soon
were you are of ABU as a fishing tackle manufacturer?
I guess this interest came by it self. In the spring as a kid I was first in
line to get the Napp & Nytt from the sport shop. It was a day of joy when the
N&N was in my hand. I could read it thousands of times, dreaming of all the
beautiful baits and reels.
First
rod/reel?
Record 1600
casting reel, Record 2 steel rod. Also given a Roddymatic , a Japanese reel when
young.
Favourite
fishing reel/rod ?
As a child
of eleven, my first serious reel was a Abumatic 120 on an old ABU 82 fibreglass
rod.
Was given to me as a Christmas present.
Did you
upgrade or keep older fishing equipment?
Always got
better one, collecting came much later. When I
found older baits I always collected them on a board on the wall.
Do you
practice different types of fishing? Fly, spin, pimple ice- jigging, baitcast,
deep sea?
Will fish
all types ways. Champion in Southern Sweden
for ice –fishing in 1996
Memorable
experiences?
Catching my
biggest Pike of >10kgs. My first was just 200g when I was 9 years of age.
Likewise many Perch when 9 also.
Collecting
When you started , ....
I was about
12/13 years when i started collecting Baits, but it was not until the 80’s that
i started seriously collecting all ABU /Record items.
You were in
my mind the BEST ABU collector but gave the interest away and now support guys
like myself. Why ?
Something happened to my collecting mind when I first got my collection of N&N
together. It was a sad thing as I remember it. What should I then collect?
Nowadays I think it’s nice to help other persons practicing my old hobby. As
being a Swede I have had the opportunity to find nice older Swedish made fishing
gear like ABU.
