I have been known to share many spares
that I have or help source the same and provide private contacts to people
requesting such. I do swap and exchange items, including Aussie as well as
ABU reels, lures etc
to friends. Please enquire as to my doubles as it
constantly changes.
As
you know this is a
NOT for PROFIT
website with the primary purpose/vision of freely providing as much
Record ABU information in terms of text, graphics (and eventually
video!), regular and up to the minute friendly help and general
communication for ABU fans worldwide. It has long been my dream to
achieve this status as a world’s best practice ABU website. The
website has been online over six years now and the unique IP
addresses logged recently (last
30 months) number
more than 44 000
users.
Foremost I have thanked elsewhere,
my son Fintan for the
programming, my first Swedish mate
Uffe Edefuhr with his immense ABU
Record knowledge. Now, more and more new friends are offering their
assistance to this website, notably
Tim Parratt
for creating the highly detailed and
useful pictorial Service Guides
and
Finn Bendorff Pedersen for his bright and cheerful original
sketches/cartoons
now illustrating this site. Hopefully, in future we will have
some light hearted stories to be shared by our more literary ABU
fans.
I have recently commissioned a
beautiful graphic reflecting my attitude toward all things ABU. It
is also reminiscent in a surreal colour way, of my local
islands where I fish in Keppel Bay, with the Spanish Mackeral
and the "Tight Lines" a sport -fish boat styled
from the 1940's when A.B.Urfabriken Record reels and other superb
fishing tackle was first made.

This
has in part occurred due to the support of dozens of people who have donated
family heirloom reels, rods, lures, badges, books, accessories and paperwork
for me to share here. Also nearly a hundred people who have been willing
to share their treasured images and knowledge , and not forgetting the
thousands of beginning and experienced collectors who keep returning making
this site so necessary for all of us. I am still looking for previously here
undisplayed scans of ANY ABU paper work ie manuals, catalog details, factory
listings etc that could be shared with ABU fans worldwide. All items are
documented, acknowledged and shared for all to enjoy. Many

My own
book "The ABU
Legacy" is due to be published by end of 2010.
Apart
from those of you who have actually gifted items of ABU products to my
website to expand this collection, ( many anonymously) , I still need to pay
out cash to host the site. I have seen sites where a nominal few dollars is
“volunteered” but I prefer not to request this. I also freely provide links
to sites of value to fans with no request for payment for such advertising.
Glad to help both sellers and buyers.
I
have been investigating
Hosting costs and how to minimize these while continuing to expand,
hopefully making the site as a dot net ( .net) database driven one with
extensive lists of models, parts, schematics all on one reliable fast
website.
