ABU/Garcia Admiral (Everol 7.5/0)

"Any percieved impression of a Garcia being different or lesser than an ABU would be a grievous error... They were made by the same hands with the same dreams and visions. The two are children of an era, and brothers among Admirals. "

Indeed, there are finer variations among the Admiral series. As is known, they were made in very limited numbers altogether. And as stated, the entrepreneurial Everol Company found opportunity to present reels to both ABU here in Sweden (really, Lennart B asked for them) as well as Garcia in the USA. So yes, the reels are different-- one says ABU and the other Garcia--but, I feel that this really only contributes to the aura of behind-the-scenes reel history, privy to those only so gifted as to know.

"The thing is, you see, that Elio Veroli and Gianni Sganzerla made those reels themselves (Elio Veroli, = Everol) at a time of youthful aspiration with hopes and dreams of things to come. Likewise, Lennart Borgström was sitting up here in Sweden, dreaming of an untold future for ABU, and his hopes of expansion across North America with the help of the Garcia Corporation. They're old friends, did you know that? Sure. Tom Lenks and Len perhaps phoned each other that day, and decided together that yes- these fellows Elio and Gianni are surely the right men for the job. And so, the Admirals were born."

None of us can foresee the future, and neither could they. That the market would not bear, or that ABU would grow to a degree approaching global domination, and subsequently incorporate even the mighty Garcia, no one could have known. I asked Lennart about it when I met him earlier this year, and he recalled the times fondly.

So summarily, any percieved impression of a Garcia being different or lesser than an ABU would be a grievous error... They were made by the same hands with the same dreams and visions. The two are children of an era, and brothers among Admirals.

OTHER STUFF:

Yes, I have it on very good authority that very few ABU Admirals were made. A few in different sizes, and if the information is correct, only ONE in size 7½ 0. Present location unknown. Also heard of a 9/0, but not sure. I will try to have this confirmed later on. Pictures of both an ABU Admiral and a Garcia Admiral are viewable at Samlarklubben Rullen as I'm sure you know already. (Pics are credited to me, but not true. I've never even seen one of these reels) The two are almost identical, Sunshine logo and all.

Wayne and Fintan,

Mike directed me to your website. Fantastic! It is truly the work of a connaiseur worthy of high esteem, or if I may- an ambassadeur of ABU. Great work, and I look forward to visiting many times in the future.

Congratulations on acquiring one of these rare reels, and I'm sure it couldn't have come to a better home. Enjoy.

My collection in this department is now nearly complete but I guess I'd like to get an ABU braded Admiral of any size as well a used or marked version of  ABU 20/30 to actually use in trolling from my boat.
