Reviews of Benchmark ABU Reels
QUESTION----- What is my favorite ABU spinning reel or reels ??
ANSWER---- It would have to be the centerpieces of my ABU CARDINAL
COLLECTION.
what I refer to as the "ROYAL" Abu cardinal models 33 and 44
These magnifcent reels are a Burnt Orange color with Dark Brown cups.
One set was presented to Carl Gustaf XV1 who in 1976 was the Prince of Sweden
and his new wife from Germany Silvia.
Both reels are marked on one side of the cup with their silhouetts and the other
side of the cups are marked:
Carl XV1 Gustaf 19-6-1976 Silvia (refer to photo's)
Thoughts are that there were two sets of these made at the Abu Factory in case
something happened during the manufacturing.
one set is presumably still in the possession of Carl Gustaf XV1 who is now the
King of Sweden and the other (extra) set ended up with an Abu
employee and some way/some how ended up in my collection. guess they call me Mr
Lucky for a reason !!??
