Tight Lines

1967

This catalog, as usual,  was issued to the English speaking world of ABU fans and even Australians like me, received it and were able to read it with great joy.

It is special to me, as it was one of my first experiences of ABU fishing and the huge range of items produced that I could never hope to see here in Australia at this time.

Len's  promotion of ABU's new Scottish Fishing School in Aviemore is prominent in this year's catalog forward. Never did I realise that in just 19 years I would visit here!

It also is great addition to the issues to date , as it has such complete sections covering all current reels, rods, lures, accessories, fishing tips for beginners. Outstanding to me was the best article I ever read at such an early time on The History of Sportfishing...a must read for all so interested. Location of fish in the sea, depthwise is also an eye-opener, like wise the Ice Fishing for Game Fish. Of peculiar interest to me was the ABU Electric Fire-Lighter, new for this year's catalog and especially new to me living in the hot Tropics.

Now , off to enjoy the catalog in full, click to expand smaller images.

I hope you have enjoyed the long time that I spent scanning and coding this page,  perusing and learning from this wonderful English language version of the  1967  ABU Tight Lines. Reading this again makes me realize how quickly 50 years of my life has passed from these childhood days. Lots of extras have been added to my life in this time, but the only constant has been family, friends, learning in one form or another  and the immeasurable  fishing pleasures given to me , thanks to the Borgstom family and  ABU fishing.
