ABU Garcia Advertizing 80's
ABU
(Cardinal) Spinning Reels were named Ambassadeur (1979) and
later for a short time in
1980.
They were hitching a ride on the quality of the long known
Ambassadeur Casting reels I guess and also distancing themselves
from the previous decade of Zebco Cardinal reels.
I don't believe this was necessary as Cardinal has established
itself as Ambassadeur's equivalent.
Some time in 1980,
the ABU Spinning Reel name switches back to Cardinal.,
(see below) asw well as a couple of Asian
madfe

Note the "Strays" , made in Asia NOT Sweden ie other than the 5 and 15 series of Cardinals.

Most ABU equipment, reels other than Ambassadeurs, rods, lures are now made in the Far East
Models of ABU Garcia Abumatics and ABU Garcia Cardinals are all new..draw your own conclusions
Although the Ambassadeurs are still made in Sweden, I will cease adding the catalog pages for ABU Garcia , as the rest is now made in the Far East.
